Dr. Olusegun Adegboye GBADEGESIN had his Bachelor of Arts degree in French at University of Ilorin with Second Class Upper Division in 1998. He obtained his Master of Arts degree in Translation Studies at University of Ibadan in 2005. He bagged his PhD in French Language (Translation) in University of Ilorin in 2014. He was the first PhD candidate to analyze the socio-cultural constraints in the French translations of Fagunwa’s works. His PhD thesis was adjudged the best of the year. Editions Universitaires Européennes, one of the leading international publishers, called for the thesis for publication in 2020. The published book is today available at twelve international book stores including Amazon.com, Waterstones, Bol.com. laboutiquafricavivre.com and a host of others. He is, at present, a Senior Lecturer in the Department and the current Acting Head. His research areas are literary translation, interpretation, theories and practice of translation, technical translation, sociolinguistics, syntax and stylistics. He is a member of Nigeria Association of Translators and Interpreters, West African Association of Translators and Interpreters, University French Teachers Association of Nigeria among others. He has scholarly publications in reputable international and local journals and has supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is the translator of Emma Umana’s playlet The Still Small Voice translated into French as La voix douce and the author of the three volumes of Intensive French currently in use in schools across Nigeria.
