Professor Victor Ogbeide, the current Head of Department, had his first degree B.A(Ed) Second Class Upper (Honors) from University of Benin (1982-1986), M.A English, University of Lagos (1988) and Ph.D from University of Ibadan, Ibadan (2003). He is a member of many professional bodies like Literary Society of Nigeria (LSN), Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), International Research and Development Institute (IRDI)(UK), Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), National Association of Teachers and Researchers in English as a Second Language (NATRESL), European Centre for Research Training and Development, United Kingdom, West African Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (WAACLALS). He has over 60 publications in both local and international journals. He has also authored several books, which include, Essentials of Prose Fiction (2001), Fundamentals of English Language which is co-authored with Dada S.A (2002), Critical Essays on the African Novels (2006) and Excursions into English Fiction (2010). He is an editor and co-editor of so many journals. He joined the services of Ekiti State University (formerly Ondo State University, University of Ado Ekiti) in 1992 and since then, he has acted in various capacities within the university. He was Acting Head, English and Literary Studies Department (2006-2010), Coordinator, Faculty of Arts Seminar (2004-2006), Secretary, Examination Malpractice Committee, Faculty of Arts (2003-2006), Coordinator, General Studies, Faculty of Arts (2006-2008), Sub-Dean, Faculty of Arts (2005-2006), Member, EKSU Post-Utme Committee (2009-2012), Member, Editorial Board, EKSU Bulletin (2007 to date), Chairman, Ekiti State University Business Committee of Senate (2018-2022), etc. He became a professor in 2015. He has attended and presented papers at many local and international conferences/workshops. He was appointed Head of Department of Theatre and Media Arts, August 1, 2023.

Professor Ogbeide is happily married with children.
